About Us

We are two people, from two different parts of the world, who believe that our life can be everything we dream to make it. We have thought a lot about what type of lifestyle we want to live and at the top of our list is flexibility, freedom and plenty of time. With that in mind, we focus our creative energy on creating projects that allow us to stay in line with those goals.

We put this website together to help other people begin to believe that whatever they declare for themselves as a possibility has a means to be achieved, you just have to find the way. We have found guidance and inspiration in different people and places and this has sparked our curiosity to find out what others can contribute when given a platform for expression.

We know that wisdom and inspiration from many sources has exponential potential to shake up and rattle readers…in a very good way. That is why we put a great deal of time into finding people to participate and share what they have learned. Together we can do much more.

A little more about us:

Jannick and I met back in 2001 in Guatemala. We were studying Spanish at the same language school and we were friends at the time. Eight years later we reconnected through email. One email quickly turned into two or three a day for a three-month period. We tested out our email romance in person and after a ten day visit to Chicago, Jannick returned back to Denmark to sell his apartment and his things. He was coming back to Chicago to live with me…

So began our life together.

In Chicago we had a nice little cushion of money to live on after the sale of the apartment and we did an outstanding job of spending it. During this time I quit my job and we were brainstorming Julio’s Sol into existence. Six months passed and we realized that we were spending too much money living in the States and we needed to find a way to spend less.

That decision led us to Costa Rica where we house-sat (read the article) for three months on top of a lovely hill overlooking the ocean. We had three dogs, a pool, a really nice property and house and unlimited time that gave us the opportunity to begin to collect some of the interviews you will find here.

From there we moved to Oaxaca, Mexico and we ended up staying for over two years. We have been jumping around from place to place because of Visa complications for Jannick in the States and for me in Denmark. Mexico says, “Bienvenidaaaa, amigo!” and invites you in for six months without question.

During that time frame in Oaxaca we tried various business ideas (read the article) that would have been more successful if we ultimately had wanted to stay longer. Everything happens so damn slow in Oaxaca and we weren’t committed to the process or the town.

We are currently pursuing web projects full time and to do that we have had to be separate for a few months and live with our parents.  The goal is to live a flexible life from now until forever and to do that we have had to take some detours. For us, those detours are part of the journey.

Read a recent interview (currently down, sorry) we gave to Startup Corner about our entreprenurial endeavors.
